Vw Passat Back Door Wont Open From Outside

Hoping someone has some insight and can help me fix this issue.

Can t find anything on google to back this up in fact all i can find is stuff saying it s only the front doors that must open but as the garage i went to halford s autocentre said they couldn t actually fix. Passenger door won t open from the outside. I did some digging around and came across some info. A few days ago without warning my driver s side door wouldn t open from the outside. Before i tear this thing apart for the first time ever can anyone give me an idea as to why it would be doing this.

On a passat thread that slamming the door a few times or punching near the door handle would re seat the cable mechanism and fix the issue. 28 10 2011 07 01 pm my passenger door wouldn t open from the outside and there was little no resistance when pulling on the door handle.
